Appointment for Disposition of Remains
This instrument allows you to appoint an agent to control the disposition of your remains. It fills a very important gap. All other powers of attorney terminate upon the death of the principal. Thereafter, the principal’s estate will be administered by the personal representative of his estate. It may take several weeks, however, before a personal representative is appointed and qualified. In the meantime, the principal’s remains must be disposed of in an appropriate manner. This instrument fills that gap. An agent appointed by a principal under this instrument is the only agent whose authority survives the death of the principal.
